By Anil Sharma TMCnet Contributing Editor
dotMobi (News - Alert), the company behind .mobi, the only ICANN-approved Internet address designed specifically for helping consumers find mobile content, has announced the inclusion of Mobizoft (News - Alert) video content adaptation data into DeviceAtlas, the definitive source of mobile handset information for mobile content developers.
"Adapting video content for mobiles has traditionally been difficult due to wide variations in device capabilities," said Paul Nerger, vice president of advanced services and applications, dotMobi.
"I'm thrilled to see Mobizoft join the growing number of companies providing bulk data to DeviceAtlas. Mobizoft brings unique capabilities in regards to media streaming, which is at the cutting edge of the mobile Web. DeviceAtlas users will benefit tremendously from Mobizoft's innovation,” added Nerger.
dotMobi, the informal name of mTLD Top Level Domain, is headquartered in Dublin, Ireland, and is leading the growth of Internet use from mobile phones with the .mobi domain name. Unique among domain name providers, dotMobi ensures that services and sites developed around .mobi are optimized for use by mobile devices, so that on-the-go consumers can have confidence that a Web site will work on their mobile phones when using a .mobi address.
dotMobi is backed by top mobile operators, network and device manufacturers, and Internet content providers.
As part of this agreement, Mobizoft will gain licensed access to the DeviceAtlas database, which will also improve the breadth and width of their device database and capabilities.
"We are constantly working to improve the experience of developing mobile Web video broadcasting and advertising, which is often made difficult by the variety and capabilities of devices," said Maria Christensen, CEO of Sweden-based Mobizoft. "In working with dotMobi, we are able to provide DeviceAtlas users with information for creating rich mobile content for nearly every video-capable device on the planet."
Mobizoft started in 2005 in Lulea, Sweden, with the vision of giving mobile users worldwide an easier way to access information over the Internet with the richest, full-featured experience possible regardless of device.
Mobizoft has become a major player in Northern European market providing technology to develop and deliver rich media content optimized in real-time for all mobile devices. Through content delivery network partners, Mobizoft C4M is offered to over 1,000 content providers.
