New High-Capacity Barracuda Spam Firewall Launched


 
Barracuda Networks (News - Alert) has released the Barracuda Spam Firewall 1000, an affordable high capacity email gateway appliance for Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and other large organizations with up to 100,000 concurrent email users and 5,000 domains in a single appliance.


 
Stephen Pao, vice president of product management for Barracuda Networks explained that with the continued performance gains and energy efficiencies of modern computing technologies, the timing was right to deliver an even higher capacity solution in a compact form factor for their largest service provider and enterprise customers.
 
Pao observed that the Barracuda Spam Firewall 1000 enables these customers to effectively handle the continuing increases in worldwide spam volume as well as reduce other operational costs in the datacenter.
 
Available at $89,999 with no per user licensing fees, the Barracuda Spam Firewall 1000 comes in a 2U fullsize form factor and includes 200 GB message log storage and 750GB storage capacity for quarantined messages. This unique email gateway appliance delivers a large quarantine storage capacity available for large enterprises.
 
The Barracuda Spam Firewall 1000 also features advanced capabilities including redundant hot swap power supplies, and dual gigabit Ethernet ports. Users can cluster Multiple Barracuda Spam Firewall 1000 models for both scalability and redundancy.
 
Barracuda Networks will begin to accept Barracuda Spam Firewall 1000 orders in the U.S. starting this week. The shipments will begin in June. The company is offering Barracuda Spam Firewall 1000 at $89,999 for the appliance and $24,299 per year for subscription to the Energize Update service.
 
Barracuda Networks is a global provider of email and Web security appliances. The company also provides world-class IM protection, application server load balancing, Web application security, and message archiving appliances. Last month, the company launched the Barracuda Message Archiver 850 and 950 models for enterprises and large organizations that want an affordable solution to preserve and index all emails.
 
By using the Barracuda Message Archiver 850 and 950 models, organizations can also efficiently store and manage emails and satisfy regulatory compliance criteria for saving email at the same time.
