PhoneFactor Adds LogMeIn for Even More Secure Remote Access

In a bid to provide users with an even more secure remote access service, Positive Networks has announced a version of PhoneFactor for use with the LogMeIn (News - Alert) suite of remote connectivity services.

PhoneFactor turns a user's phone into an authentication device with two-factor authentication and identity protection for far greater security than usernames and passwords. With the LogMeIn service, users can connect to, and remotely control their computers both at home and at work. Both offerings are web-based services, and now PhoneFactor has been optimized for secure access to computers using LogMeIn.

"We believe LogMeIn is the most widely used remote access service and is already very secure," said Tim Sutton, CEO of Positive Networks (News - Alert). "With PhoneFactor, LogMeIn users that want security beyond basic passwords have another simple and very secure option. PhoneFactor gives them complete two-factor authentication without the hassle or expense normally associated with alternatives that require an additional device."

Through the partnership, LogMeIn, which only had a token-based two-factor authentication offering, now becomes the first remote connectivity service that can include tokenless secure two-factor authentication capabilities that protect both individuals and businesses.

"Adding PhoneFactor is a great option for users that want two-factor authentication without the need for tokens, certificates or hardware," said Michael Simon, CEO of LogMeIn. "It's great to see innovative companies creating products to service the millions of users in the LogMeIn community."
