Overture Networks ISG Products Certified by Verizon Business to Help Deliver Ethernet Services

Overture Networks, a developer of converged packet access solutions, has announced that Verizon (News - Alert) Business, a unit of Verizon Communications, has certified the Overture Networks ISG 5100 and ISG 45+ for Ethernet service offerings over Verizon’s global network infrastructure.

Overture Networks (News - Alert) combines the packet-switched and circuit-switched worlds into a single architecture—at cost points that make it extremely attractive for offering Carrier Ethernet Services to any size location—over copper, fiber or optical transport.

Currently, revenues from Carrier Ethernet services worldwide exceed $9.1 billion. This is expected to top $30 billion by 2012. The fiber and copper deployments are the main markets that are contributing to this impressive growth. The Overture Networks ISG product family provides support for Ethernet services for many connection types such as T1/E1, DS3/E3, OC-3/STM-1, OC-12/STM-4 and Gigabit Ethernet.

Jeff Reedy, president and CEO of Overture Networks, said in a company press release, “We are delighted that Verizon Business (News - Alert) has chosen Overture Networks to provide solutions in the Ethernet services arena. Overture has an excellent record of innovation and global deployments where we have helped providers deliver a diverse set of services that leverage their business expertise and expand their market opportunities.”

The Overture Networks’ ISG product family provides Ethernet and legacy services over any underlying infrastructure. It is also suitable for the customer edge and first level aggregation points. For connections ranging from 1 Mbps to 1 Gbps, the ISG 5100 is a multipurpose, multi-slot chassis that provides access and aggregation. The ISG 45+ provides 10/100 Ethernet access to the customer and a single DS3 uplink to the network.
