Starting this week, customers of mobile media company 3 will have a new feature in their mobile phones to boast about. According to a report on Big Mouth Media, the company will enable mobile phones of its customers to download Yahoo! Messenger for no extra cost.
With this new service, the modern day mobile phone gets one step closer to imitating computers as it lets users chat with people all over the world just as they do on their PCs.
Recently, the company announced an agreement with Google (News - Alert) wherein it was offering Google Maps to its mobile subscribers. Old customers of the phone can download the software required for this and the new phones will come with pre-installed software to enable surfing of Google maps. The company has also integrated Google search into the mobile phones.
For Yahoo! Messenger, pay monthly customers of 3 mobile will receive Yahoo! Messenger on an indefinite basis and pay-as-you-go users will have access until the end of the year, the Big Mouth Media report noted.
The report also noted the 3 has worked with Yahoo! in the past on features such as Yahoo! Go 2.0.
As the competition heats up, customers will only get better deals as any big players are expected to join the competition soon like online search engine giant Google, who is expected to come up with a new mobile phone called Gphone.
