Korea RFID Test Facility Deploys AT4's RIDER Test System

AT4 wireless recently announced that Korean Songdo u-IT Cluster Center, an RFID Test Facility set up by the National Information Society Agency (NIA) has purchased its RIDER (Radiofrequency IDentification testER) RFID Test System, according to a report on Telephonyworld.com

AT4 installed successfully the RIDER Test System at the Songdo u-IT Cluster Center located in Incheon, Korea.

The RIDER (Radiofrequency Identification testER) system was released in 2005 as the official Conformance Tester for the EPCglobal Generation-2 Accreditation Program. Since then, AT4 wireless has continuously been working in new upgrades and improvements for this test platform.

AT4 explains that among the new capabilities supported the most remarkable and promising one is the Mobile RFID standard recently developed by the Korean Mobile RFID Forum.

The Korean Mobile RFID Forum comprises key Korean mobile phone carriers and electronics makers, including Samsung, LG Electronics (News - Alert), SK Telecom, KTF, and ETRI, all which have synchronized their efforts to develop radio-frequency identification technologies for mobile phones.

According to the report, the RIDER test system recently won a tender bid in Korea to become the Conformance Test platform used to certify the new Mobile RFID devices. The initiative is supported by MYOUNG Corporation, AT4 wireless official distributor in Korea.

“We are very pleased to have a RIDER system operative in Korea, and especially at the Songdo u-IT Cluster Center,” said Angel Romero, systems product manager at AT4 wireless in a statement.

Romero continued: “By adding the Mobile RFID technology to our RIDER tester, and taking advantage of our position as a worldwide reference in mobile and wireless technologies, AT4 wireless will unquestionably become the leader in the test systems development market for this promising combination of Cellular and RFID technologies”.

AT4 wireless made news last week for announcing that they are prepared to be officially accredited for the new draft of Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR specifications once these test specifications are formally released.
