Interop Delivers Mobile Internet Service to Rural Cellular Corp.

Rural Cellular Corp. (News - Alert) has announced the purchase of the WAP
Gateway solution with hosted WAP 2.0 deck from Interop (News - Alert).
RCC is a full-service wireless company marketing under the Unicel brand name. The company reportedly serves more than 700,000 wireless customers in 15 states. Unicel will leverage the Interop WAP gateway to deliver MobileWeb Internet service to its CDMA
customers.
Interop’s WAP Gateway (News - Alert) is a robust, integrated, push proxy solution with a graphic-rich WAP deck customized with the look and feel of the operator's brand. Boasting state-of-the-art techniques in clustering and load balancing, the solution delivers the scalability and throughput required in today's wireless environment.
More capacity can be added on the fly without disrupting existing service. The solution supports all handsets compliant with 3GPP/3GPP2 audio standards. Additionally, real-time usage tools monitor top links, content, and off-portal traffic for operator queries.
“Our wireless customers enjoy the convenience of obtaining news, sports, weather, entertainment, and business content on their handsets,” said Ann Newhall, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Rural Cellular Corp. in a statement to the press.
