Tempest Telecom Solutions Chooses Brilliant Telecommunications to Develop Carrier-Class NTP
By Rahul Prabhakar TMCnet Contributing Editor
Brilliant Telecommunications, a leading manufacturer and distributor of precise end-to-end timing network solutions, has recently been chosen by Tempest Telecom (News - Alert) Solutions, as their premier partner under the company’s LLC partner program. Tempest provides customized equipment provisioning, product engineering, equipment repair and exchange, and asset recovery programs. Its clientele include telecommunication giants such as AT&T, British Telecom, COX Communications, and Verizon (News - Alert) Wireless. In addition, Tempest offers world-class wireless, landline, and networking infrastructure equipment.
The two companies will collaborate to build carrier-class Network Time Protocol (NTP) and synchronization solutions. Additionally, the existing legacy networks will be equipped with modified IP
applications, which will soon be carried further into their next-generation networks.
Brilliant Telecommunications (News - Alert), developers of the highly successful hardware-based NTP server technology will provide timing network solutions to Tempest for its various products and services.
Explaining their choice for premier partner, Jessica Firestone, President and CEO of Tempest said, “Brilliant Telecommunications has demonstrated responsiveness and an ability to deliver a standards-based solution that addresses the critical timing and synchronization requirements in legacy and next-generation networks.”
“As two strong players providing clearly differentiated solutions to the service-provider market place, this relationship clearly underscores our commitment to bringing in new partners under the Tempest umbrella, who will offer the best-of-breed products to our target markets,” she further added.
Brilliant Telecommunications has developed a unique network timing solution to address the problem of critical timing information that gets lost while adapting to high-bandwidth applications, during a switchover from T1/E1 leased lines to Ethernet
services.
The solution offers carrier-class timing and harmonizes the flow from layer one (Ll) to layer four (L4) of the network. The entire process is incorporated seamlessly and cost-effectively.
Moreover, hardware-based, wirespeed NTP and pre-standard IEEE
1588 Precision Time Protocol (PTP) processing capability provided by the company will further help Tempest meet its business objectives.
Dr. Charles Barry, CEO of Brilliant commented, “With service providers seeking to deliver IP-based solutions while retaining the same level of Quality of Experience (QoE) that are received over TDM
networks, interest in next-generation timing solutions is stronger than ever.”
“We focus on the development of quality products that meet stringent carrier-class requirements while delivering a competitive edge. I am proud to receive this validation from Tempest as a premier partner and am excited to build value-added solutions together,” he added.
