Digitel Provides WIMAX 2.5 GHz Design for Auburn Broadband


Digitel Wireless, a provider of broadband and wireless infrastructure equipment and consulting services for the rapidly expanding wireless broadband market, announced the completion and delivery of a mobile Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX (News - Alert)) 2.5 GHz design.


 
The WIMAX 2.5 solution was designed for Auburn Broadband, an Atlanta-based wireless provider, for its 67.5 MHz of FCC (News - Alert) licensed spectrum in the 2.5 GHz EBS band. The company plans to build a WiMAX broadband network in Auburn and Opelika, Alabama, as well as in other smaller rural markets in the surrounding coverage area.
 
The solution includes a technology assessment, preliminary site selection, vendor comparison, and 2.5 GHz WiMAX licensed spectrum design utilizing the latest RF design tools for WiMAX RF design.
 
Digitel Wireless also provides a detailed business plan considering population and household data that provided a financial and operations model that considers the latest technology improvements of the WiMAX forum and various vendors.
 
The company is focused on providing next-generation hosted and premise-based technology in the converged communications solutions marketplace. The company offers fully converged communication solutions from traditional telephone systems to professionally hosted and managed IP communication solutions to their clients.
 
The services offered by Digitel include: IP telephony, unified messaging, FreedomPipe hosted iPBX service, infrastructure, wireless communications, multimedia contact centers, professional services, gigabit Ethernet port, and security

Auburn Broadband plans to offer mobile wireless high-speed Internet access (up to 20 Mbps) for small business, residents, educational institutions and municipalities. The company also plans to offer Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) voice telephone service and IP video service at discounted prices.
 
“I could not have been more pleased with Digitel's turnkey deliverable. It is one of the most thorough designs I have seen in a long time,” said Richard Kolsby, CEO of Auburn Broadband.
 
According to Kolsby, Digitel’s WiMAX solution will help Auburn Broadband ensure the best WiMAX design possible and enable them to reach the maximum number of businesses and residences with mobile high speed (2 Mbps to 20 Mbps) and high quality wireless broadband products and services.
