Brightpoint Inks Distribution Deal with RadioShack

Brightpoint (News - Alert) has entered into a distribution and support agreement with RadioShack Corporation to provide distribution and logistics support for certain wireless products. Brightpoint will also continue to distribute wireless products to select RadioShack dealer stores across the country.
“This program is very exciting for Brightpoint as it represents what we believe is the optimal way to manage handset inventories within the constantly changing wireless space,'' said J. Mark Howell, president of Brightpoint Americas, in a statement.
Howell was of the view that this program would provide incremental points of sale for the company’s OEM suppliers, increased product choices for consumers, and an efficient and effective supply retail chain solution.
Brightpoint, Inc. (News - Alert) is a major player in the distribution of wireless devices and in providing customized logistic services to the wireless industry. In 2007, Brightpoint handled approximately 83 million wireless devices globally.
Brightpoint's services include distribution, channel development, fulfillment, product customization, e-Business solutions, and other outsourced services that integrate seamlessly with its customers.
In 2007 Brightpoint generated revenue of $4.2 billion and net income of $47.4 million. Brightpoint provides distribution and customized services to over 25,000 B2B customers worldwide.
As TMCnet reported, another of Brightpoint subsidiary Brightpoint Activation Services LLC had recently entered into an agreement with AT&T (News - Alert) as per which Brightpoint would act as an Online Master Dealer for AT&T.
Under the terms of the agreement with AT&T, Brightpoint will enable its approved customers the ability to offer and sell wireless services from AT&T via its end-to-end integrated online activation solution.
Brightpoint will use Synchronoss's ConvergenceNow(r) software platform as part of this solution to provide online activation of AT&T wireless services. The Nokia (News - Alert) USA site will be one of the first clients to utilize the program with AT&T.
