Vollee Enables Nokia N96 for Second Life Mobile

Vollee, a 3G streaming services provider, announced support for Nokia (News - Alert) N96, and also its start of sales worldwide. With Nokia’s new model, N96, users can access Second Life, the 3D virtual world platform by Linden Lab. Other than new Nokia N96, other Nokia, Sony Ericsson (News - Alert), Motorola, Samsung, LG and other manufactures models are being supported for access to Second Life as well. In fact, with N96, there are now more than 70 3G handset models supported by the Vollee service.

Vollee’s technology is portable across different handset manufacturers and thus the service is available with the release of the handsets.

Vollee's solution streams high-end PC titles to mobile, also multiplayer online role playing games and virtual worlds such as Second Life. The company's VolleeX engine adapts applications for the mobile screen size and key layout, and then streams the original application to mobile devices. Games can be played from PC to mobile without slowing down on speed or quality. Vollee's technology can also be extended to fast-paced, high quality video games which were earlier not possible on mobile.

With hosting of unmodified PC applications on powerful servers, for mobile handsets and then streaming those over 3G networks, Vollee allows users to access MMOs and rich virtual content like Second Life or play console quality games on handsets.
Vollee delivers services through patented tools that change the return on investment for IP owners to bring their content to mobile. Vollee has also announced partnerships with Intellectual Property owners like ActivisionBlizzard, Linden Lab, Codemasters, and Encore Software.

Vollee also announced that its mobile open beta application for Second Life has been downloaded by users in over 98 countries, across more than 253 mobile operators' networks for 70 supported handset models.

"We were able to bring Second Life to mobile in a way that Residents all over the world, from Afghanistan to Venezuela, have flocked to," said Martin Dunsby, CEO, Vollee. "Extending the online experience seamlessly to mobile is the future of PC applications, and our technology allows for this in a way that not only appeals to the existing communities but also drives new adoption as well."
