ExtendMedia Partners with UB Cross, Expands into Asia-Pacific Market
By Anil Sharma TMCnet Contributing Editor
ExtendMedia (News - Alert) Corporation, a provider of digital content services software, has expanded into the Japanese market through a strategic partnership with UB Cross, an affiliate of Mitsubishi (News - Alert) Corporation.
As part of the agreement, UB Cross will resell and deploy ExtendMedia's OpenCASE platform. OpenCASE enables content rights holders and distributors to quickly create, manage, secure and monetize content services across broadband, TV and mobile devices.
OpenCASE is an end-to-end, enterprise-class digital content services delivery platform that can be rapidly deployed and integrated into existing systems, with modules that can be used separately or together for automated asset management workflow, metadata management, DRM, encoding, commerce model support, publishing and distribution, and added ease and flexibility for a rich broadband video experience.
The pact is expected to accelerate UB Cross’ evolution from traditional post production into IP-based digital media management and distribution.
"We are constantly looking for ways to provide media distributors flexibility in delivering premium content to their end-users," said Yuichiro Hara, president and CEO of UB Cross.
"ExtendMedia's OpenCASE -- proven through many successful implementations in North America -- alleviates the heavy lifting required by our customers and can quickly, efficiently and securely deliver premium entertainment distribution across three screens,” added Hara.
A joint venture founded in 2002, UB Cross develops and operates Media Asset Management (MAM) system to content providers in Japan. The company also provides digital content factory services such as encoding/transcoding services. UB Cross intends to expand its business to content owners and broadcasting stations using OpenCASE.
"Our partnership with Mitsubishi and UB Cross is a significant one that allows ExtendMedia to create an imprint on a global scale," said Keith Kocho (News - Alert), president and founder, ExtendMedia. "Based on initial reaction from service operators in Japan, we anticipate strong demand for our offerings."
ExtendMedia's digital content service delivery platform offers unrivaled flexibility and versatility to create, control and securely deliver high-quality digital media content across broadband, TV and mobile devices in both paid media and ad-supported formats.
ExtendMedia powers initiatives for innovative communications, media and consumer electronics companies.
