AsianInfo to Service China Mobile During Olympics

When the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games kick-off tomorrow, two Asian companies will be working together to bring cellular phone services to the masses.

AsianInfo Holdings, Inc., a provider of telecom software solutions and IT security products and services in China, has signed a contract with China Mobile (News - Alert) to provide a system monitoring and management platform to China Mobile’s headquarters during the Olympic Games.

“This historic event provides telecom carriers with an exciting arena to showcase new and innovative technologies and services to some of the most sophisticated customers from around the world,” said Steve Zhang (News - Alert), AsiaInfo’s president and chief executive officer.

“We are delighted that China Mobile has selected our best-of-class technology and comprehensive solutions to ensure the smooth and successful operation of its business during the Olympic Games. As we reach this significant milestone, we also celebrate our 15 years of growth and innovation alongside China’s rapidly developing and evolving telecommunications industry.”

The system monitoring and management platform and services will work to ensure continuous operations and the security of China Mobile’s Business Operation Support System, Business Intelligence system and other business support systems during the Olympic Games.

The platform will also provide real-time analysis and monitoring of China Mobile’s Olympics-related business, allowing the company to manage its partners more effectively during the Olympic Games.

AsianInfo provides telecom software solutions and IT security products and services to some of China’s largest enterprises as well as many small- and medium-sized companies in the country. AsianInfo became a prominent supplier of IT security products and services in China with the acquisition of Lenovo’s (News - Alert) non-telecom related IT services business in 2004.

AsianInfo began operations in the United States in 1993 and moved operations to China two years later, playing a significant role in the construction of the national backbones and provincial access networks for all of China’s major national telecom carriers, including China Telecom, China Mobile, China Unicom (News - Alert) and China Netcom.
