Calling Rates From US to Dominican Republic Slashed by Rebtel

Rebtel (News - Alert) has cut its rates on calls from the U.S. to the Dominican Republic to less than 5 cents per minute for calls to landlines and less than 10 cents per minute to mobile phones. Rebtel can be used with any mobile phone without any modification or software downloads. It also does not require any change to existing plans of customers.

According to Hjalmar Winbladh, co-founder and CEO of Rebtel, “Nobody is doing it better or cheaper. When you add in popular calling card’s hidden charges and maintenance fees they all average about $1 per minute for calls to the Dominican Republic. That stinks and is totally unnecessary. They’re ripping you off! And popular internet phone services from Skype (News - Alert), Jaxtr and Jajah are not much better, when it comes to serving the more than 1.2 million people of Dominican descent living in the U.S. today.”

It is absolutely free to set up a Rebtel account. Customers do not have to pay any monthly fees or connection fees. They only have to pay for the minutes used. Newcomers also get a free 10-minute call to test the service.

Rebtel gives its customers local phone numbers in their country. Using this number, customers can connect directly with their friends, family or colleagues who live abroad. Since all the calls are local, users can call each other as often as required and talk as long as required.

How the Rebtel service works is explained using the following example: A customer living in New York will be given a local New York number. Using this local number, the customer will be connected to his friend in the Dominican Republic. In turn, the person in Dominican Republic will be provided with a local Dominican Republic number to reach his friend in New York.

Winbladh continued, “Low rates combined with the most reliable and clear connections are what brings customers to Rebtel, but the reason people use our services day in and day out is to stay connected with their loved ones. That’s what Rebtel is all about – and why 97 percent of our customers recommend Rebtel.”
