Knowledge Tree and Funambol Announce New Code Sniper Community Project


Knowledge Tree and Funambol (News - Alert) announced a new Code Sniper Community project to their respective open source communities today. This project will recognize and reward community members who write software to synchronize content between mobile phones and the Knowledge Tree document management application by using the Funambol mobile open source platform.


 
Knowledge Tree is a leading provider of commercial open source document management software. This document management software is flexible, easy-to-use and cost effective when compared with other such applications and also has no vendor lock-in. Funambol, headquartered in Redwood City, CA (News - Alert) is the leading provider of Mobile 2.0 open source messaging software. The company also leads in open source push email and PIM sync solutions for the mass market.
 
The Funambol community program, namely code Sniper, recognizes and financially rewards developers for work on open source projects benefiting mobile users of the world. All the applications developed for Code Sniper are available for free under standard open source licensing. The new project aims to provide geographically dispersed knowledge workers consisting of sales and marketing teams, as well as with real-time updates of all critical company documents.
 
According to Daniel Chalef, CEO of Knowledge Tree, “Funambol’s mobile platform provides a great mechanism for Knowledge Tree customers to synchronize their documents to mobile devices. The popular Code sniper program was introduced by Funambol about a year ago. A bounty of $2,000 is being offered by the Code Sniper project. Useful community mobile applications for iPhone, Android (News - Alert), Yahoo, Gmail and Thunderbird have also been developed by mobile developers.
