Verizon FiOS (News - Alert) TV customers can get their local TV schedules and info about the video on demand or pay per view offerings from the newly launched FiOS TV central website.

 

Verizon (News - Alert) Communications Inc. delivers broadband and other wireline and wireless communication innovations to mass market, business, government and wholesale customers. FiOS TV is a provided via complete fiber-optic network, removing the need for cable or satellite.

 

Shawn Strickland, Verizon's vice president of video solutions said, “the site is just the beginning of exciting things to come as we're focused on giving customers the flexibility of accessing FiOS TV information and services whenever they want, wherever they are."

 

"Today, the FiOS TV Central Web site offers the convenience of remote access to programming information. In the near future, we'll offer even greater interactivity that gives subscribers even more remote control of their service."

 

The website allows users to review the FiOS TV content and in the home page there are VOD trailers and featured titles, scheduling of primetime programs which is regularly updated if a new content has been added, links to each area of the site, including a help page. It also has a Search function that lets customers filter by TV shows, movies, VOD, celebrity or pay-per-view.

 

Future updates to the site will allow customers to control their DVRs (digital video recorder) and set up and modify recordings remotely. Customers also will be able to order VOD programming and other content and manage parental controls, among other capabilities.

 

Users can log in to the central website by providing the user name and password and even the ones who haven’t subscribed to FiOS TV can get all the info they need on the home page.

 

Verizon's FiOS TV is delivered over the nation's most advanced fiber-optic network straight to customers' homes and businesses. FiOS TV delivers more than 400 all-digital channels, including about 30 high-definition (HD) channels in most markets and access to more than 10,000 on-demand titles, 70 percent of which are free. The VOD library also now includes an increasing number of high-definition titles.
