Nortel Government Solutions Selects NetIQ

Security Administration (SSA), NetIQ (News - Alert) is all set to provide VoIP network diagnostics, monitoring and professional services for day-to-day operations and management.

In order to support the SSA implementation, NetIQ will provide NetIQ AppManager for VoIP; NetIQ Vivinet Assessor, and NetIQ Vivinet Diagnostics.

NetIQ AppManager for VoIP enables administrators to monitor quality of service and end user experience with VoIP applications. Company officials said explained that using AppManager for monitoring will allow SSA to monitor and manage service levels across Nortel (News - Alert) Communication Server 1000 and Nortel IP tele-service center infrastructure.

Moreover, officials pointed out, it will provide SSA with capacity planning data to help determine optimal network traffic patterns and usage. Additionally, SSA will receive access to the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) Toolkit.

This access, official’s said, will enable AppManager to monitor and manage a number of additional network devices and also professional services to assist Nortel Government Solutions (News - Alert) in rolling out the VoIP deployment.

NetIQ Vivinet Assessor delivers network readiness diagnostics for converged networks - voice, data, video - to ensure consistent application performance, while NetIQ Vivinet Diagnostics discovers and troubleshoots call quality problems on VoIP networks.

Chuck Saffell, CEO at Nortel Government Solutions, said that proven management solutions are essential in optimizing the SSA VoIP deployment to meet service demands and reduce communication costs over time.

“Converged data and communication technologies are becoming essential to business operations, and the combination of Nortel Government Solutions and NetIQ provides the most trusted and comprehensive solution available to the market today,” added Chris Pick, vice president of products and marketing at NetIQ.

NetIQ is a provider of comprehensive systems and security management solutions that help enterprises maximize IT service delivery and efficiency.

By managing the entire VoIP lifecycle, including network assessment, pre-deployment, ongoing monitoring, reporting and capacity planning, NetIQ VoIP solutions “proactively detect quality of service, limit call degradation and provide quick diagnosis to ensure a consistent, exceptional end-user experience,” according to NetIQ.
