By Shamila Janakiraman TMCnet Contributing Editor
Planview providing enterprise-wide portfolio management solutions announced that Planview OpenSuite for BMC Atrium CMDB is available now. It is a result of integration between Planview Enterprise and BMC Atrium Configuration Management Database (CMDB).
This is an intelligent data repository which allows alignment of separate IT functions with accurate, pervasive and business-aware visibility between business processes, users and IT infrastructure.
The process of integrating the system of record for work and resources and the system of record for IT infrastructure helps organizations to make their service portfolios more competitive. Planview also offers integrations to the BMC IT Services Management (ITSM) suite which includes BMC Remedy Change Management and BMC Remedy Service Desk.
Planview OpenSuite for BMC Atrium CMDB is most suitable for organizations desirous of integrating their core IT management solutions for managing their services optimally as per ITILv3. The CMDB initiative taken by most IT operations organizations is an important component of the ITIL and Business Service Management (BSM) approaches for managing IT services.
Planview unites portfolio management with business service management and builds on the ITIL type of Service Portfolio Management (SPM) which is a closed-loop change management solution.
Global 2000 organizations increasingly require coordination between IT service and IT project portfolios, which is key for business agility and to cut costs in a difficult financial environment. Collaboration across these key areas helps organizations to be quickly responsive for more effective application and service management, provisioning and deployment said Melinda Ballou, program director for IDC’s (News - Alert) Application Life Cycle Management Service.
Planview Enterprise Service Portfolio Management (SPM) allows organizations to make decisions regarding what services to invest in, retire, enhance or outsource. Interoperability with BMC Atrium CMDB helps automatic and accurate assessment of the Total Cost of Ownership
of services.
The availability of latest information regarding services enables managers to make decisions for making their services portfolio better. The service portfolio will be included in the strategic planning process in Planview Enterprise which will enable organizations to allocate funding appropriately for sustaining operations and innovation projects.
“We our committed to our strong relationship with BMC and recognize the company’s leadership position in the market. The BMC Remedy user community is one of the largest and most well respected in IT and we are excited to have the opportunity to offer them deeper integrations to leading portfolio management products and services,” said Patrick Tickle, executive vice president of Products at Planview.
He added that this latest integration with BMC was another proof to underscore the company’s commitment to the interoperability of market-leading IT management systems.
