ADC Powers Multi-Carrier Coverage for the Sanctuary at Kiawah Island Golf Resort

Offering multi-carrier cellular voice and data services in all guest areas at The Sanctuary — a world-class hotel at Kiawah Island Golf Resort near Charleston, South Carolina — ADC has announced the deployment of its Digivance in-building coverage system (ICS). Even though the hotel provided an ADC Digivance system for its own customers previously, it now wanted to enable coverage for users of AT&T, Sprint (News - Alert), and Verizon as well. The expansion took place over a 90-day period and services went live earlier this year.

The expansion of coverage with the Digivance system has enabled the hotel to offer multi-carrier coverage that allows guests to place and receive calls. The expanded system includes some 45 Digital Remote Units (DRUs) with ceiling- and wall-mounted antennas throughout the hotel. It also includes new rooftop masts to capture macro network signals from the major carriers, new Digivance ICS Host Units and Expansion Units in the hotel’s equipment room.

The Sanctuary hosts many corporate events and the hotel wanted every guest to have good mobile reception in their room as well as throughout its facilities. Since the hotel was getting very good service from the Digivance system for a few years, the obvious choice for the hotel was to expand that system to include coverage for all of the other carriers in its area.

ADC provides the connections for wireline, wireless, cable, broadcast, and enterprise networks around the world. The company provides high-speed Internet, data, video, and voice services to residential, business and mobile subscribers with its innovative network infrastructure equipment and professional services.

“With its all-digital transmission system, the Digivance ICS solution delivers high signal strength and uniform coverage at each antenna point regardless of its distance from the main Host Unit,” said John Spindler, vice president of product management for ADC Network Solutions (News - Alert). “This high performance and easy scalability allowed us to complete the multi-carrier expansion at The Sanctuary with minimal disruption to hotel guests, and helps us to extend our market leadership as the number one in-building cellular supplier for the hospitality industry.”
