Avago Inros Industry's Smallest FETs for Multiple Wireless Applications

Avago Technologies has released VMMK-1218 and -1225, the industry’s smallest packaged field effect transistors (FETs), according to the company.

These ultra small, low-profile discrete low noise devices measuring only1.0 x 0.5 x 0.25mm, and occupy less than 5 percent the volume of a standard SOT-343 package.

Currently, these new FETs are available through Avago’s direct sales and global distributor partners. Pricing for VMMK-1218 and -1225 start at $1.19 and $1.32 respectively in 1000-9999 quantities.

These new FETs leverage Avago’s innovative chip scale packaging technology. According to Avago, this technology enables miniaturization of transistors with high-frequency operation and superior thermal dissipation. Because these devices do not require negative voltage to operate, they result in lower costs and ease of use for RF designers.

Avago Technologies explain in a press release that due to the size and performance of these transistors, they can be used for a variety of wireless applications. These include commercial radios, UWB, radar, base stations, military communications, RF sensors, WiMAX, satellite communications or any DC-26 GHz application requiring small-sized components.

Boasting three decades of radio frequency (RF) and microwave design and manufacturing experience, Avago Technologies help its customers meet the most demanding technical specifications and pass the most difficult regulatory tests around the world.

Targeting wireless infrastructure, wireless data (GPS/WLAN/WiMAX), handset, digital TV, VSAT and datalink applications, Avago’s reliable RF/microwave components offer numerous benefits, including small packages, excellent power efficiency and industry-leading performance specifications.

Avago Technologies is a supplier of analog interface components for communications, industrial and consumer applications. In another news, the company has announced its first 1-Watt (1W) high power Moonstone LED emitter for use in a broad range of architectural, garden and decorative lighting applications.

The Avago’s ASMT-Mx00 is an energy efficient LED emitter that’s encapsulated in a heat and UV resistant silicone compound for high reliability and long life. Available in one of the industry’s thinnest packages this competitively priced LED emitter provides designers of solid-state lighting applications with an easy-to-use power LED that has a wide viewing angle radiation pattern, and superior heat dissipation.
