TruePosition Launches New Hybrid Location Solution

Philadelphia-based TruePosition (News - Alert), a provider of advanced wireless location products and services, has announced its latest offering, the TruePosition Hybrid Location Solution.

While most of the location-based technologies currently focus either on network-based or handset-based technologies, the TruePosition Hybrid Location Solution leverages both these technologies to offer better performance and reliability to the customer.

The two popular technologies mostly deployed in location based services - Uplink Time Difference of Arrival (U-TDO) and Assisted GPS (A-GPS) can serve either the rural market or the urban market but is not suitable for both the markets. The U-TDO is ideal for indoors and urban market while the A-GPS technology provides excellent results in rural areas. The TruePosition technology deploys both these technologies and can provide accurate results in urban, indoor and extreme rural conditions. The combination of the two technologies also helps in providing better and more accurate results than either of the technologies used alone. Another advantage offered by the TruePosition solution is that it can offer location-based services for mobile phones that do not have GPS capability.

"TruePosition's combination of U-TDOA and A-GPS provides the best performance of any individual technology or any hybrid location technology available today or in the foreseeable future, said Stephen Stuut, CEO of TruePosition.

"With this solution, TruePosition can offer the performance and reliability that the public demands for location-based services, especially for emergency calls where people's lives and property are often at stake."

The TruePosition solution is ideal for local search and location-based advertising and in enterprises for workforce management and asset tracking. Other areas where the TruePosition can add value are security services such as family monitoring, personal medical alerts, and emergency number services.

TruePosition incorporates a number of technologies like Cell ID (CID), Enhanced Cell ID (ECID), Angle of Arrival (AOA), U-TDOA, and A-GPS and is suitable for different environments. A high degree of accuracy, latency and yield, which are the key performance measures for location technologies, is achieved through the combination of these technologies.
