Looking for News is now Easy with CBS Mobile

CBS Mobile has introduced a feature in its Web site, which allows  users to dig deeper into mobile Web sites and find the stories they want to read much more easily. CBS mobile has partnered with Aggregate Knowledge. Aggregate Knowledge looks at the click-histories of every story on the site and discovers patterns in those clicks to recommend the most relevant Web content based on what other people with similar tastes are reading and clicking on.

Initially, CBS will this technology to help direct relevant news stories to users. But the company can also use this feature to direct targeted advertising to users in the future. Since no one has tried this before, it will be really interesting to see how it all works. Also, if the business proves to be profitable, there will be mobile operators who will be looking for a cut in the profit.

According to a report in News.com, Jeff Sellinger, executive vice president of CBS Mobile, said in a statement, “What we are really trying to do is make the discovery of content on the phone much easier and more relevant than it is today. If we can make it easier to get to content that people want, they'll have a much better experience and they'll come back.”

With this agreement with Aggregate Knowledge, CBS will be able to display suggested articles in the form of “Your Headlines.” Content suggestions keep changing throughout the day based on natural shifts in interest from morning news, to feature articles, to breaking stories and trends, as they are user-driven.

By using the Aggregate Knowledge technology, CBS looks to deliver more targeted and relevant content to the people who visit the CBS Mobile Web site. The new feature will appear on the CBS Mobile Web site starting this week and the companies are expected to announce the partnership on Wednesday.
