Intermec Launches New PB50 Mobile Printer
By Calvin Azuri TMCnet Contributing Editor
Intermec (News - Alert) has announced the launch of PB50, a wireless mobile label printer that is compatible with Intermec mobile computers, Bluetooth
scanners and media. The printer works in tandem with Intermec’s wireless mobile hardware solution for warehouse operations to help users print labels, tags and receipts without any hassles. With the help of Bluetooth and WLAN
connectivity, users can print regardless of where they are located.
The PB50 is now part of the Intermec range of products that leverage the SmartSystem technology, which is a software platform offering ease of deployment, configuration and management of Intermec devices. The devices supported by the platform include the CN3 series, 700 series, CK61 series of mobile computers, SR61 and SF51 Bluetooth scanners.
Intermec Inc. specializes in the development, manufacture and integration of technologies that identify, track and manage supply chain assets. The company’s core technologies include RFID, mobile computing and data collection systems, bar code printers and label media.
"Consolidating mobile computing purchases with one reliable vendor is the simplest and wisest choice for most companies, as it makes for one common interface and one contract," Steve Banker, ARC Advisory Group Director of Supply Chain Management, said. "Intermec is providing users with a greatly simplified route to mobile computing with this 'soup-to-nuts' solution."
With the PB50, users can print the complete width of all pixels at the same time. The product uses high speed electronics to guarantee "time to first label" in less than half the time taken by other label printers. Additionally, the printer leverages its high-voltage battery and patented techniques to offer efficient print head power management, which is typically found in desktop printers that offer world-class print speeds.
The PB50 comes with a massive on-board flash memory as well. With this storage capability, users can store their most frequently used label formats and graphics on the printer. This eliminates the need to access files from the host system.
