ShoZu Moves into Two-Way Mobile Social Media

Tying together mobile communications and popular social media content, ShoZu Inc., a provider of mobile social networking services, has announced new features to make it possible for consumers to get the latest Flickr photos and YouTube (News - Alert) videos posted by their friends on their handsets.

The new capabilities offer automatic content feeds and a way for consumers to keep actively in touch with their social life and entertainment even while on the go.

"Social media has been moving from the Web to your pocket, but until now the only practical way to interact with your preferred social network, personal blog or photo or video sharing site from the handset has been to send photos and video clips captured on the phone to the site of your choice, now we can push content from those sites down to the phone so that users can stay in touch wherever they are. This bridges the gap between users' mobile and online worlds, and it substantially extends our leadership in the mobile social media space," ShoZu CEO Mark Bole said in a statement to the press.

The company has also said it will further extend its social media delivery options with more features in the near future including the ability to access new site postings without having to open the mobile browser.

With the new Flickr capabilities, users can select to have photos sent to their friend's phones as they are published, photos are quickly delivered and a popup message appears on the phones idle screen.

Users will also be given the ability to send and receive comments on the photos and photos taken with a GPS-enabled phone will automatically be set with geotags so GPS-tagged locations will automatically appear on their Flickr map.

With the inclusion of YouTube, ShoZu users will also receive video feeds of up to 10 clips. With a thumbnail and description, users can chose a video, click and begin streaming from the YouTube site.
