Nokia Completes Acquisition of Mobile Ad Company Enpocket

Nokia has completed its acquisition of Enpocket (News - Alert). Enpocket, a global player in the mobile advertising space, provides technology and services that allow brands to plan, create, execute, measure and optimize mobile advertising campaigns around the world.

Tero Ojanperä, chief technology officer at Nokia (News - Alert), explained that the Enpocket acquisition is a logical step toward establishing Nokia as a leader in Internet services. He said in a statement that, with the close of this transaction, Nokia will create an exciting business focusing on advertising, offering a strong suite of services and solutions to enable brands, publishers, telecom operators and others to run targeted advertising and marketing campaigns for mobile audiences.

Nokia officials pointed out that their vision for mobile advertising is to develop the largest, high-quality advertising marketplace; offer advertisers global, targeted reach; provide mobile operators and publishers a simple way to monetize their mobile assets; and offer consumers access to rich, interactive, and valuable content available via relevant, interesting and appropriate advertising.

Nokia was recently in news the company announced that New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg is backing its campaign to get New Yorkers to bring their used cell phones to recycling locations or mail them in for recycling.
