Logic, an outsourced and hosted VoIP infrastructure and solutions provider, has announced the extension of its proprietary Cortex System Management Portal software to enable SMS (Short Message Service).
Known by more than 1 billion users globally as “text-messaging,” the Cortex system is used to control and manage VoIP telephony features on the Sylantro Platform. Cortex SMS integration with Sylantro’s Synapps APIs was honored this week as one of the three finalists at the Sylantro Global Summit 2007 Telephony Mashup Challenge in Las Vegas.
Cortex is a flexible, customizable Web-based management platform that is designed to enable service providers to provision and customize service offerings as well as their end-users to self-administer.
Now, with the use of text-messaging, a user is able to communicate to underlying systems in order to accomplish such tasks as initiating a call or conference call and managing find me/follow me settings.

"As a growing company with innovative ideas and award-winning software, we are proud to compete with global luminaries such as Infosys," said Micah Singer (News - Alert), CEO of VoIP Logic, in a Thursday statement.
Singer continued: "Sylantro, through its Synapps APIs, has embraced allowing voice features to be a collaborative part of any application. We look forward to our continued work launching and assisting service providers of all tiers. It is an exciting time of creativity and integration in telecommunications."

Sylantro Systems (News - Alert), a provider of multiple application feature servers, and the Thomas Howe Company, together hosted a mashup contest at the Global Summit 2007. During this contest, the winners had the opportunity to present their new applications before an audience of potential customers consisting of CTOs and CEOs of top ILECs, PTTS, IXs, CLECs and other service providers.
"We are excited to announce VoIP Logic's selection as a top three finalist in this contest," said Shirish Andhare (News - Alert), vice president, product marketing, Sylantro Systems, in a Thursday statement.
Andhare continued: "The VoIP Logic (News - Alert) team's entry demonstrated what telephony mashups are all about. By integrating text-messaging, one of the most pervasive and device agnostic interfaces on mobile phones today, with the Synapps API
, they opened up a whole new mobile use case scenario for enabling users to manage their telephony capabilities remotely. The application demonstrated a clear business value proposition for the mobile worker and the power of the VoIP Logic Cortex platform."
The Sylantro Global Summit is an annual gathering of service providers and communications executives from around the world focused on addressing carrier transformation.
