Kryptiq Awarded Two Additional New Patents, Further Broadening Online Communication Technology Leadership

PORTLAND, Ore. --(Business Wire)--

Kryptiq Corp. has been granted approval by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for two new patents, covering selective encryption of electronic messages and data, and customized messaging to prevent spam emails. With these patents, Kryptiq builds on the innovation that has differentiated its products by creating an open, collaborative network of care between physicians, patients and health plans. Additionally, Kryptiq can license the intellectual property to other industries where secure messaging and spam are concerns.

Kryptiq's first new patent covers selective encryption technology that assesses and rates the content of an electronic message, and then helps select the level of encryption that is needed. This allows system administrators to configure rules that help end users receive messages with the appropriate level of encryption.

The second patent covers a method for users to have multiple automatic email addresses, aiding spam prevention. The technology allows users to have a one-time use email address for completing online forms. After users finish the transaction, the email address goes dormant, preventing it from being used for spam.

"Kryptiq continues to advance our intellectual property around our core set of products for the healthcare market," said Jeff Sponaugle, Kryptiq chief technology officer. "This recent validation for our technology expertise means that our physician customers can have confidence in the quality and efficiency of how their secure messaging is handled through our system. They can spend less time worrying about the security of their messaging with patients and colleagues, and focus on doing what they love - healing patients."

These patents cover core technologies that are in the Connect IQ® suite of products, used by more than 1,400 healthcare organizations around the country. Connect IQ is a secure set of communication tools based on simple technologies that enable a collaborative network between providers, patients, health plans and pharmacies. With Connect IQ, physicians gain faster access to patient information and reduce paperwork, allowing them to focus on patient care.

The two new patents are patent No. 7469340, entitled "Selective Encryption of Electronic Messages and Data," and patent No. 7461397, entitled "Customized Electronic Messaging," both issued in the United States. These patents add to Kryptiq's esteemed technology portfolio, which includes another patent formally announced last month. The previous patent covers Kryptiq's technology for the secure encryption and transfer of health data between sender and recipient.
