Magyar Telekom wins Macedonia 3G network licence

BUDAPEST, Dec 23, 2008 (Reuters via COMTEX) --
Magyar Telekom has won a 10-year licence to
operate a broadband 3G mobile network in Macedonia, the Hungarian operator said
in a statement filing with the Budapest Stock Exchange on Tuesday.
The licence, for which the company paid 10 million euros ($14 million),
obliges it to launch the service within six months and make it accessible to 80
percent of households within three years.
At 1112 GMT, Magyar Telekom stock traded down 0.2 percent at 549 forints
($2.90), outperforming a 1.6 percent decline in the wider Budapest market.
