Radialpoint Teams Up with SOS Children's Villages Canada to Provide Home and Care for Orphaned Children in Namibia

Radialpoint, leading provider of managed Internet security services for the world's largest Internet service providers (ISPs), today announced that it is sponsoring a home for 10 orphans in Ondangwa, a community located in Northern Namibia, Africa. As part of a long-term commitment to SOS Children's Villages Canada, Radialpoint will sponsor all the costs associated with establishing a home for the children, including their food and nutrition, utilities, clothing, home maintenance, caregivers, education, and medical care.
"Ondangwa has been devastated by decades of conflict and is one of the worst affected areas of the HIV/AIDS pandemic that is sweeping across southern Africa, leaving thousands of children orphaned. Although this is the most populated region of Namibia, it has the fewest social services available to assist children affected by these issues," said Boyd McBride, National Director of SOS Children's Villages Canada. The Radialpoint-sponsored home, which will open in the fall of 2008, is part of a larger SOS Children's Villages Canada initiative to establish 12 family homes in Ondangwa and provide care to 120 local children. These homes replicate family settings and are permanent residences for the children until they are ready to go out on their own. The homes are staffed by an SOS Mother, a local member of the community who lives with the children, and are supported by other local women, known as SOS Aunties. This ensures the children are raised in their own cultural setting and also provides jobs to local women. Radialpoint's sponsorship will cover all of the salaries of the children's caregivers.
