Citrix increases partners 38% to meet demand
(BNamericas.com Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge) US enterprise access solutions provider Citrix Systems (Nasdaq: CTXS) has expanded the number of channels in Latin America by 38% to 250 so far this year from 180 at end-2006, Citrix Latin American channel programs director Willy Vega told BNamericas.
The firm strengthened its sales channel because in early 2007 Citrix found itself with insufficient resources to cover the large demand in the region, Vega said on the sidelines of SAP (NYSE: SAP) Partner Summit 2007, in Panama.
The firm also increased its workforce in the region to 80 employees from 60 at end-2006.
Citrix revenues in Latin America grew 50% in 2006 compared to the previous year due to new products and an expanded physical presence. In 2007, regional sales are expected to grow between 30-35% compared to last year, according to Vega.
"We [initially] expected 30% growth but now I can tell you that the situation is looking better," Vega said.
Latin America currently represents 5-7% of the firm's global revenue, which amounted to US$1.13bn in 2006.
The company continues to look for partners, particularly those specialized in network security, to promote Citrix's products recently launched in the region. Though the firm's flagship product Presentation Server represents 65-70% of Latin American revenues, Vega expects new products to increase sales as well.
Web delivery appliance NetScaler and network products Access Gateway and WANScaler are three of the new products sold in Latin America exclusively through channel partners.
Citrix serves between 8,000-9,000 clients in Latin America and has sold over 300,000 licenses.
In Latin America, Citrix has offices in Mexico, Brazil, Chile, Argentina, Colombia and Puerto Rico. While Brazil represents 40-50% of Latin American sales, Mexico accounts for 25%.
